The actress Judith Light is appearing on Broadway in a new play called “OTHER DESERT CITIES” about the secrets harbored by a dysfunctional family and the conflagration that occurs when the secrets and lies all spill out.  In Part 1 of this two-part interview Judith talks about the demands of playing Silda, a Jewish recovering alcoholic, eight times a week.

In Part 2 of the interview Judith Light reveals how her own Jewish faith has evolved to become an eclectic spirituality that extends into service and advocacy work.  Judith has long been a champion of gay and lesbian causes and AIDS research.  She describes a pivotal moment of insight that occurred while working on the movie THE RYAN WHITE STORY for ABC.  The words of Ryan White caused her to spring into action, and she has not stopped since.
