The Courthouse, or any other public building, is not the place to advertise for a specific religion. Do these people also support putting a Buddha in there ? How about some Islamic icons ? Maybe some satanic relics.

I happen to agree with the lawyer. The issue is not the tree itself, but the fact it was decorated with pictures of crime victims, right in the courthouse lobby. That can influence jurors outside of what they hear at trial.

It’s a sad day in America when ALL Americans cannot excercise their freedoms. By removing the tree, you violate the rights of the victims and those who put up the tree, to favor the “rights” of criminals. ALL have equal rights under the law. The implication was that a guilty person might be found guilty if the tree remained (bias against a criminal) and might be found innocent if the tree were removed (no bias). How absolutely ludicrous. The tree has absolutely NO bearing on whether or not a person gets a fair trial, only what is said and done in the courtroom, the press and the work done by law enforcement to ensure that the guilty party gets their just reward. We need to stop this “political correctness” mentality that has swept the country and get back to the basics that our forefathers intended when they wrote the constitution. Obviously you cannot please all of the people all of the time or even most of the time, but then the constitution doesn’t require me to. It does require that I be “tolerant” of others ideas and opinions that don’t agree with mine, but that I still have the right to state mine even though others may not agree and I don’t have to confine them to my home or a closet. A “fair” trial for a criminal means that they have trial by a jury of their peers who come to a decision after hearing all the evidence presented in a “court of law”, not that everyone else in the free society abstain from mentioning, remembering or praying for their victims. We Americans are like the frog in the pot, blissfully unaware that we are about to be boiled up and so take no action to prevent it. Like the frog whose body adjusts to the slowly but ever increasing temperature of the water making no attempt at escape, we have sat blissfully back while our freedoms have been enroded away under the names of political correctness, civil rights, equality etc. Time to wake up America and jump out of the pot (but missing the frying pan) before it’s too late.

It doesn’t matter if Sheffield’s position is supported or not. It was smart of the DA to move the tree so defence attorney & scum don’t get their way and have delay in trial. Good for you DA! Go get ‘em.
