They both have a smile in their eyes. I think that for the short time she lived she felt happy and loved. I think the zoo staff was right to bring her back for the other elephants, so that they could grieve her passing. I also applaud their efforts to try to save her. People who work in zoos barely make any money. For ten years I have contemplated leaving a job to work in a zoo and I just could not afford to live on the salary. They do it for the love of the animals and for perpetuation and protection of species. They are our arks. I am very sorry that Lola left us, my heart goes out to her mother, her aunts, her keepers, and the vets who tried to save her life. We could all make a donation to a wild elephant rescue/conservation org in her memory. Just a thought of how to maybe turn our tears into something that could help other elephants....
