You know, a lot of the posts above disgust me. You take the time out to write nothing but negative comments ” who is she, she’s a nobody, plenty of people get hurt, etc etc”. How fingg inconsiderate. She was a beautiful young girl. Who now is missing an eye, a hand. How traumatic for her. I’m 23 years old and Growing up in the society where looks trump everything, this can only be devastating for her. Have some god damn compassion people. YES I agree there are lots of other people in the world to write about. This is update on her recovery jeez. Don’t like it, google something else. Saying she was ‘stupid’ by walking into it. When a propellor is on, it moves VERY fast people. You can’t necessarily see it. This is exactly what is wrong with people…have it happen to someone you know. And I doubt you would be on here. Get a grip

You guys really gotta stop with this “shouldn’t we be focusing on…” crap. It’s a story that has interested some people, not because she’s pretty or Christian, but because it’s just an interesting, uncommon thing that happened to this girl and America basically likes stories that are like this. And for everyone who calls her stupid you really need to get some respect.

While I agree that this injured person and her family deserve all kinds of understanding, encouragement, and support… I have not avoided noticing through the years that where injured, lost, kidnapped children and women are concerned, journalists seem interested only when the child or woman is blond and white. This is injustice in itself. I feel bad for this injured model, but the reporting follows a pattern. In the past I’ve tried to gain media attention for missing children of other races, for certain people not blond or young…so called journalists have zero interest.

And here’s another tip. ABCNews should concentrated on actual news, not fluff material about someone too stupid to keep away from the front of an airplane. Just sayin’.

And here’s a tip. When the title says something about injured model, propeller, etc., and you don’t want to read about it, don’t click on it. Once you understand how the internet works, it’s pretty easy to avoid stories that do not interest you or that inflame you. Just saying.

Is the family paying ABC News for all of these updates? This is getting weird. I’m very sorry it happened, but she is recovering and many many other people have much worse injuries, health concerns and upset going on in their lives as well. I understand her family is highly religious, therefore I wonder about their need for the big narcissistic public display, what with the “please donate” blog the mother writes.

Seriously – the people with the negative comments need to get a grip. We don’t decide who the media reports about, but it is the people who have shown to the media, the type of stories we are interested in. It will always be that way – some people, depending on the circumstances, fame etc – will always get more attention then other people (in regards to the public). This does not mean that we need to dismiss a tragedy that has occurred to them, or make crude and negative comments about them, because the media chooses to cover it. If you don’t want to read about it – TURN THE PAGE and read something else. That simple.

I am sorry she was injured and must now go through arduous recovery. BUT… WHO IS SHE ESPECIALLY?? What about our service men and women, average people who come back maimed? Are they getting the same medical attention? (The heck with media attention!)
