Season-to-Date, "GMA" Posts Smallest Total Viewer Margin with NBC's "Today" in 16 Years
"GMA" Only Morning Show to Increase in Demo Season-to-Date; Increases Most Among Total Viewers
ABC News' "Good Morning America" drew 4.164 Total Viewers and 1.2/10/1.453 million Adults 25-54 for the week of December 26, 2011.
For the 3rd consecutive week, "GMA" lowered its Total Viewer margin with "Today" versus the prior week (-16% - 581,000 vs. 590,000) , delivering its smallest Total Viewer gap in 5 weeks - since w/o 11/21/11.
Season to date, "GMA" narrowed its gaps in both Total Viewers (-39%) and Adults 25-54 (-39%) versus its year-ago season gaps. The ABC morning newscast is posting its smallest Total Viewer margin (551,000) with "Today" in 16 years - since the 1995-96 season.
"GMA" topped CBS' "Early Show" by 2.113 million Total Viewers (4.164 million vs. 2.051 million) and by 665,000 Adults 25-54 (1.453 million vs. 788,000), more than doubling the Total Viewer performance (+103%) of its CBS rival.
Season to date "GMA" is up the most among network morning news programs in Viewers (+9%), and is the only morning program to grow in Adults 25-54 (+10%) versus year-ago averages (NBC's "Today" is up +1% and down -5%, respectively; CBS' "Early Show" is down -9% and -11%, respectively). "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in 4 years, since the 2007-08 Season.
