security settings are there for a reason...and what he should of said...cause u know he grew up hearing THESE STATEMENTS somewhere along his way to adulthood "DO U KNOW WHO MY DADDY WAS...and HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE ACTIONS OF A KENNEDY IN ANY WAY? I understand the need to hold one's child but common sense goes a long way where a new baby is concerned. OF COURSE these nurses were agressive, if anything happened tho this baby while under their charge can u imagine the heat the Kennedy compaound owuld have brought down onto that hospital...even if it were at the fault of the parents need to take the baby outside. GROW UP Kennedy...sometimes everyone should except the word no and not turn into a school yard bully!

If Kennedy didn't want to abide by the rules of the hospital, his wife should have had the baby at home. Just like a pompeous Kennedy to think the rules only apply to other people.

Wow,call of you blabbing in outrage are obviously not nurses. The first time we let someone step off a unit with the baby in his arms there would be outrage that we didn't protect them well enough and stop an abduction! Believe me, there are many disgruntled baby daddy stories out there let alone just nuts baby snatchers. You can't have it both ways. That's why we have policies, run drills and spend huge amounts of money on electronic devices that alarm and even lock down doors when a sensor goes off. He was WRONG to assault a nurse. She was doing her JOB. these devices would have to be deactivated, it's not just a "check mark on the chart". Duh, we don't live in the stone ages. Who is the other idiot who mentioned that they "own" the nurses? Really? I didn't know I was a slave. Hope you change your point of view when you need a nurse because you would be a most unpleasant patient . Hard for us to be compassionate with people like you. Hope they both sue his pants off of him for his assault.

So Kennedy's attorney is spinning this as 'Douglas raised his knee and 'pushed' her away'. Right. Kennedy KICKED THE NURSE across the floor WITH HIS FOOT with such force it threw him of balance causing him to fall with the newborn in his arms. Kennedy endangered his child with his reckless actions and the attorney AND the ER doctor should be ashamed of themselves for trying to cover for the entitled brat.

You are not allowed to take the baby out of the hospital unless the doctor has given the okay for discharge. It doesn't matter if it is his child or not.

If this tool can't follow rules of the hospital then him and his wife should have babies at home.
As for legal expert - I love how she is kissing Kennedy ass - real neutral -

i applaud the institution for supporting the nursing staff. they were doing their job. the "physician friend" should be ashamed of himself and reprimanded for not following policy and ignoring this serious matter. as a pediatric nurse and nurse manager in the maternalchild health field for 20 yrs i know the importance of tight strict security on these units. infant abduction is a real threat and hosp and staff have these protocols in place for a reason. and from an infection control perspective a newborn should not be exposed to or expose other nursery babies from their clean environment. i dont care who you are or what your name is these policies are non negotiable. if you cannot recognize the importance of the institutions policies then hire a midwife and deliver at your home! and to trip a nurse how dare he. again i hope the hospital continues to support the nurses. ( as an administrator i know those nurses would be held highly accountable if they let any newborn abduction occur) the people and experts dont know what they are talking about if they disagree or say Mr Kennedy was justified in ANY of his actions.

This is bull-crap. He is a custodial parent and common sense would dictate that he was not doing this without his wife's implicit authorization. It would seem to me that the staff by trying to physically restrain him and creating a tussle were the ones guilty of child endangerment and assault. I was not aware that parents surrender actual custody to hospitals when delivering children. Personally I would respect their procedures simply because I view it part of our implicit contract (meaning I would want to be able to sue them if anything went wrong with my kid). Nor would I defy advice directly from an MD unless I a second opinion, but in this case Kennedy had an MD friend with him at the time of the incident who apparently assured him the child would be fine. The nurses should have made note of the incident and left it at that. If Rick Santorum ever wanted a family values issues to rail about, this interference with parental rights seems tailor made for him.

The only crime any son of RFK is guilty of is working for FAUX News. Why is he working for the murderers of his father?

I have one question for everyone, why didn't the nurses call security on the first place? And all you Kennedy haters shame on you for being so biased when you have no idea what happened. If someone tried to take your newborn baby and approched you like the nurses did you would let them do that, no you wouldn't. I really home he does not convicted because that is absurd.

Joel:
The nurses physically attempting to stop a parent with his child IS VIOLENCE, regardless of hospital "policy" that is irrelevant.

All they should have done is notify the parent that they will not be admitted back into the new born ward, hospital policy so that if exits the hospital the new born will not be allowed back in the ward and if that is what he wants to do...

But the claim of "safety" seems a bit odd to me since parents and friends can walk in and out of the ward without being "sterilized" so what is the difference between walking outside and then back in as compared to friends and familiy visiting...

Doesn't seem reasonable and to hide behind the "rules" is stupid as people can judge on their own.

Exactly what is the difference between walking outside and back in to the ward and friiends and familiy waliing into the ward? Doesnt seem like anything is different.

So to physically try to stop a parent from walking outside with their child is ridiculous, at best, discharge the child and dont let them back in, this to me, is still stupid but much more reasonable and professional than trying to physically stop a parent who will OBVIOUSLY get protective and defend the child in which case the "nurses" created the condition which put them in harms way... stupid
