How do you know the cat doesn’t like it? Maybe he’s a badass cat.

The cat is under anaesthetic….so there shouldn’t be any complaints about the “pain” he’s enduring. Because he’s not.

So any arguments against this is based entirely on the fact that the human is putting a message on the cat…..presumably one the cat understands, and doesn’t approve of. Is that any different than putting a sweater on a dog?

I have no words.
No double standard. Branding is cruel, docking tails and ears is cruel. Anything a human does unnecessarily to an innocent animal is cruelty. I makes me want to throw up.

Minorkey! — you are mistaken about HSUS shelters. Humane Societies of various areas have shelters, but the organization HUMANE SOCIETY OF THE UNITED STATES which Mr. Pacelle heads has no shelters and exists as a primarily political organization for anti-pet legislation. Mr Pacelle has publicly commented that he hopes that no animals will be kept as pets within his lifetime.

Tons of animals are tattooed for ID. I had a dog that was tattooed on the inside of her hind leg. I didn’t have it done, it was done when I got her. I just think people who tattoo anything should be required to know how to spell.

“In a statement to ABCNews.com, Wayne Pacelle, the president of the Humane Society of the United States called the act ”clearly uncessary and inhumane.” ~~~~~~~~ Last I checked, at least some of the Humane Society animal shelters tattoo animals with identification numbers prior to adoption. When I adopted my cat, they REQUIRED that he be tattooed before he could come home with me. They shaved his belly and tattooed him, and my only choice was to allow it or not adopt him (he was on their ‘death row’). Turns out he already had a tattooed number, but they still tattooed him again, rather than transferring that prior number to my adoption record. Maybe Mr. Pacelle should clean his OWN house first before throwing stones at others.

This is animal cruelty. What gives him the right to impose his will on a poor helpless animal like that? He needs to pay for what he did.

Hm, double standards! So tattoing a cat with an anesthetic is cruelty and branding animals is not? Or trimming tails and ears for breed standards? Or cutting out puppies 5th fingers on front paws?
