Too bad that ABC and other mainstream news organizations don't care to even fact-check Mr. Trudeau's assertions regarding bill HB-15. Have any of you read it??? If not, why not -- it's online like everything else. Laziness is no excuse for ignorance! The bill simply states that the woman must have a "sonogram" (a.k.a., ultrasound). It says NOTHING about a "trans-vaginal" ultrasound, which is generally only used in cases where the patient is obese, or during very early stages of pregnancy. Traditional obstetric sonograms are done by placing a transducer (a device that converts one type of energy into another) on the abdomen of the pregnant woman -- about as invasive as having the doctor put a stethoscope on your chest to listen to your heart beat.

And let's get real -- under Mr. Trudeau's definition, a colonoscopy would also be considered "rape". The procedure to perform the abortion itself is also quite a bit more invasive than the transvaginal sonogram which Trudeau implies (falsely) is required by the law. Stop with the lies and exaggerations! Read the bill for yourself and see how it is intended to provide education and ensure that women are presented with all available information and options prior to making this monumental decision, which not only will terminate her unborn child's life, but can have lasting physical and psychological impacts on her.

Hm. If he dislikes the maleness of Texan legislators, does Trudeau have a problem with the fact that most of the doctors performing abortions are male?

To really make a point I think he should do a series of "cartoons" about partial birth abortion. Put some nice detailed shots of what actually happens out and just see what the reaction would be. Now that would be cutting edge.

Obviously, any woman, willing to kill her baby through abortion needs as much sensory input as possible to discourage her from doing so. Abortion is the most barbaric social policy in the history of mankind. It is for this reason and others that some countries summarily dismiss the U.S. as devoid of moral standing. As the U.S. holds suspect the standing of Russia, China, and Iran due to their outrageous social policies, other countries summarily dismiss the U.S. for its despicable policy on abortion.

If these same religious zealots that want to force a woman to "reconsider" her choice on abortion would perhaps allow children to be taught a thorough sex education in school, perhaps it would not be an issue. Perhaps children would retain some of this information and make a healthier decision. This whole situation debunks the zealot's excuses that sex education just leads to more sex, the problem is young people are already doing it and arent fully aware of the circumstances.

In Afghanistan, you have a cleric forbidding women to handle bananas or other phallic fruits for fear it would spur them to be more sexual and leading to their becoming immoral. Here, you have Rush Limbaugh saying that if a woman wants to have the government pay for her birth control, we are aiding her to immoral also. Seemingly the same argument, if you possess a higher order level of thinking and can make the proper connections in their arguments.

Rape, as defined as per the WHO is being conducted in Texas. It would be akin to a man having to endure a rectal exam for wanting to have his reproductive tubing snipped.

So basically, on the issue of legal abortion, conservatives are "statists." I interesting.

Inconsistency is proof of a flawed premise.

This law,is clearly unconstitutional. Women have the right to privacy, and the state has no business infringing on that right because a bunch of people worship "the unborn." These very same people are also destroying social services and education...things that actual, living children need. YOU ARE NOT "pro-life," you are PRO-CONTROL. If you don't like abortion: don't have an abortion. It's really simple folks: my choices are MY business, not yours. Misogynists have no business in public office, and the backlash has already started. The GOP is losing support from women, and will continue to do so as long as they keep passing these ridiculous, invasive RAPE laws.

I'll bet the spineless yahoos that are refusing to run this cartoon have been vigorously defending Rush Limbaugh's right to say the vile things he said. Also, I bet that if someone tried to censor something written by or approved by this paper's editors, they would be screaming and ranting that their paper's press and speech freedoms were being infringed. The hypocrisy here is astonishing. As much as I abhor Rush Limbaugh for the vile and hateful things he is constantly spewing, and as much as I might disagree with things produced by the press, I totally defend their right to say and publish them. When I subscribe to a periodical or watch or listen to a program, I fully expect that there will be things with which I disagree, but I can live with that as the price one pays that allows the rest of the content. If these publications and their readers derive some pleasure and benefit from Doonesbury the rest of the time, They should support his right to express something controversial every now and then. The delicate individuals who can't handle reading something that is controversial to them can simply turn the page and read another item. The rest of the american public does not need these fearful small minds to decide for them what ideas and opinions they should be exposed to.

Conservatives will cry foul if someone tries to censor them or infringe on their religious rights, as witnessed by their latest rants over Obama's birth control requirement, but they have no problem censoring those who do not agree with their views. God forbid someone disagree with them and want to print it.

They truly are the biggest bunch of hypocrites known to the human race!
