An elderly New York City man was found dead in his apartment with an obscene message written in lipstick on his body. Police refused to disclose or confirm the message to the public.
The 75-year-old man, who lived in the Bronx, has been identified as Joseph Fisher, who police said suffered "severe trauma to the head and body."
Fisher lived at Belmont Apartments for more than 30 years. Neighbors said they knew him well as a friendly and affable man.
"He was a very nice man," said Louis Alvarez, who lived in the apartment above Fisher.
Erminia Acevedo, a neighbor who lives right below Fisher's fourth floor apartment told ABC News station WABC in New York that "she had heard a boom while sitting in her living room, and then remembers hearing footsteps above and then another loud bang."
An NYPD spokesperson said EMS pronounced Fisher dead on the scene.
"The investigation is ongoing at this time," an NYPD official said. The police are not willing to comment on the progress of the investigation. However, neighbors hope that the surveillance cameras located on the Belmont Apartment buildings will offer some assistance to the police.
According to WABC, Fisher survived three heart attacks prior to his death.
