Robin, I too beat BC ( in 2004) and again in 2011. You are a Strong Faithful women you will beat this too, know there are a lot of us here in Central WI praying and pulling for you.

Hi Robin,
Just wanted to tell you that I too was diagnosed with MDS at age 44. My sister was also a perfect match and not only did she donate her marrow to me but she stayed with me the entire six months that I was away from home in the hospital at the University of Washington in Seattle. I have to tell you that this journey has been incredibly tough at times but the Lord has been with me the whole time. He does promise to not give us more than we can handle and His promises have been kept. I know they will be for you too. I am now nearly a year and a half out from my bone marrow transplant and it is my understanding that at two and a half years if there are no signs of the disease, I will be pronounced MDS free. I am feeling so much better and am amazed at how my body is recovering. I am sure you have a great support group, but should you have any questions for me, I would be very happy to hear from you. Keep your faith, know that God uses every circumstance in our lives not only to draw us closer to Him but also to show those around us just how awesome He is. I have learned a great deal about this disease from first hand experience and would encourage you to avoid most of what is on line, in relation to outcome statistics, as it does relate mostly to older people who are not as fit as we are. Your journey will be uniquely your own. I hope for you to have as positive an experience as possible and complete success. In Christ, Laine

Robin, we are walking this road together. I extend my energy, strength & faith in healing to you. You help me heal each morning on GMA. My pic line was just removed last week after 6 weeks of daily chemo & radiation for esophagheal cancer. I am a 25 year breast cancer survivor after two occurrences with chemo/radiation & harvested my own bone marrow before age 30. Robin, thank you for your tremendous sacrifice sharing your personal journey with the world. You are impacting lives now and for generations to come by causing people to donate life-saving bone marrow. God bless you & your sister!! P.S. I’d love a GMA armband to cover up my scar! Where can I buy one?

Robin, May 24, 2004 I was diagnosed with AML-full blown leukemia that began as MDS.Fortunately my brother was a perfect match for me and I had a stem cell transplant in Sept. 2004.I am now a 42 year old nurse and almost 8 year survivor. Positive thinking and using what motivates you the most (for me my 3 young children) to keep you strong will get you through the toughest days. I laughed my way through it, yes laughed. You can always find something positive in every situation and you must. I was checking into club Christiana (hospital) for an extreme makeover. I was going to lose weight, get a new hairdo(bald) and I had a penthouse suite(top floor) looking over pebble beach(rocks on the rooftop below). What ever works. I wish you well, and would love to give you more. I offer my experience and support from someone that has walked down this path before you. One more word of advice, the bed is not your friend, make yourself get up everyday, no matter what. Beth

Robin,
I have in the past four years undergone a similar disease, Severe Aplastic Anemia when I was 14. My sister donated her bone marrow to me as well after I went through chemotherapy and I have been in remission for three years now! I know you have already been through so much in your life and it is unfair. So many people are rooting for you and I know you will beat this again and become an even stronger person! If you ever need someone to understand what you have gone through, I will always be here to listen and help with whatever you would like!

Robin,
You can beat this, I believe frame of mind and early detection is a key factor. Your sister is a hero. Thirteen years ago my little brother at age 42 also had this disorder to fight on top of another form of Leukemia. I was a perfect match and his donor at John Hopkins. He won his battle with MDS and lost with the other Leukemia. He went to doctors for 2 years before someone could tell us what was wrong, had it been detected earlier I believe to this day he would have made it. With the knowledge doctors have now I believe you will win the battle that is before you. Your sister is a wonderful for giving you this gift. You will be in my prayers everyday as well as your sister. GodBless all of you.

He had a stem cell transplant in January, 2011. He is finally living life as a normal boy. You will beat this! God bless you as you begin this journey.
