Mother of 11 Newborn Piglets Dies at Orange County Fair

Less than a day after giving birth to 11 piglets, their mother, Daisy, died of an unrelated seizure.

Daisy gave birth Tuesday night at Centennial Farm in Orange County, Calif. She died suddenly Wednesday morning.

Though seizures are uncommon in pigs, a necropsy was not performed because Daisy showed no signs of illness before giving birth. All piglets were born, and remain, healthy, said OC Fair spokesperson Robin Wachner. This was Daisy's sixth litter.

The piglets have already become one of the most popular family attractions at the OC Fair.

Workers at Centennial Farm care for the piglets round the clock, bottle-feeding them cow's milk from the farm.

The piglets will eventually be donated to organizations such as 4-H and Future Farmers of America.
