It is outrageous that the original guardian of the dog–coward that he is–has the audacity to demand the poor animal back. The couple that had the compassion and courage to save the dog deserve to be her permanent guardians. The original idiot should be fined and never allowed to have another pet. If it was too dangerous to bring her down, he shouldn’t have brought her up in the first place. He is a prime candidate for the Darwin Award!

please fine this guy and ban him from ever having an animal in his care and come to think of it he should be a questionable father since he clearly has no sense of responsiblity given his response to an animal in distress it is difficutl to believe he was worried about a younger hiker …. this contradicts his displayed lack of a sense of personal responsibility ….. this guy is a menace. Please give the dog to the couple who made several attempt to rescue the dog with considerable effort.

I’m glad the man didn’t end up in bad shape- he may have left the younger hiker as well, and maybe have left the “younger hiker” for dead and not cared to return or report it either!

~ Sherriff’s office is covering it’s butt.
~ They FAILED offer any help to the rescuers when asked.
~ So did the Rangers.
~ They should ALL be charged for animal cruelty.

This is not the 15 minutes of fame this wretched dog owner had in mind, I’m sure. How could he sleep at night knowing he had abandoned his best friend to a cruel death by starvation and exposure? That one moment of callousness will brand him for the rest of his life. I for one can’t say I’m sorry about that.

This guy should be punished for not returning for this precious animal. The people that pulled together and went back to save her are true compassionate people, who more than deserve that dog. The dog would be in a safe home with these people. The dog deserves to be with someone who cares!!!!

This guy should be locked up. You know what they say about people who treat animals bad. I do doubt he was going to return. PURE ANIMAL CRUELTY. Please do not let this guy off lightly as seems to be the case in most animal cruelty cases. LAWS need to become more strict, PLEASE!!! Thanks to all who rescued her , keep her safe and in a LOVING home.

Why would this man take his dog AND a younger person up a mountain that is known for it’s rough terrain? The fact he made no attempt to go back & rescue her, proves he does not deserve her & should NOT get her back! Total strangers risked their lives to go back up & rescue this beauty! They deserve to keep her! If this man loved his faithful companion, he would have done everything to rescue her, but he made no attempt to do so. She waited there, faithfully, for him to return & he did NOT! Missy is one strong dog & I am, so, happy the Washburns came along & saved her life! Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. Washburn & all those who helped you!
