ABC News Docu-series “NY Med” Surges Over its Lead-in Nearly Tripling Overall Audience and Doubling Among Adults 18-49
“NY Med” Continues to Improve its Time Period Year-to-Year
The sixth installment of ABC’s “NY Med” delivered 4.20 million Total Viewers, 1.73 million Adults 25-54 and 1.31 Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen Media Research. ”NY Med” shot up week-to-week among Total Viewers (+45%), Adults 18-49 (+43%) and Adults 25-54 (+40%) — hitting a 4-week high in the key Adult 25-54 news demo - since 7/17/12.
“NY Med” jumped over its lead-in at 10:00 p.m. to nearly triple its overall audience (+147%), while doubling its lead-in by 67% among Adults 18-49. “NY Med” has built its audience for ABC in the hour for its 6th straight telecast.
Picking up audience throughout its broadcast, the sixth installment of the 8-part ABC News docu-series gained viewers (+10%) and young adults (+22%) from its first half-hour to its second half-hour.
Continuing to improve its time period year-to-year for ABC, “NY Med” surged over original programming on the year-ago night by double-digit percentages in Total Viewers (+17%), Adults 25-54 (+17%) and Adults 18-49 (+11%).
For a full year ABC News cameras had unprecedented access to document the mayhem and the miracles that occur daily inside the walls of Columbia and Weill Cornell Medical Centers, the crown jewels of the prestigious New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City for an eight-part series “NY Med“. Lutheran Medical Center also participated, adding a Brooklyn dimension to the series. The eight-part series takes a candid look at how cutting edge medicine often makes the difference, although even the best surgeons can find themselves flirting with disaster.
