I normally do not agree with todays over-paranoid society and cameras watching our every action, but I cant argue its for the safety of the driver. It's obvious though that regardless of whether there's a camera there or not, it doesn't change much.

As a former bus driver the video is the only protection a driver has. Way to easy for a student to make a false accusation and the driver is terminated as the school finds it cheaper than an attorney to rightfully protect the driver!

Kids, like adults, are out of control today. In my day, my parents would have paddled us for trouble-making. Kids are disrespectful, rude, even crude with the F bomb, and worse yet ready to brawl. We never heard of teachers having sex with students. All that behavior seems common-place now. Today's society stinks.

I have seen helicopter parents view the video showing their kid starting and continuing the ruckus on the school bus. The parent(s) will sit right there and still deny their kid was at fault.

No one in the public school system envies the job of a bus driver, and although this is an alarming instance of a bus driver horribly abusing her position and endangering every child on the bus and anything/anyone in its path, it's usually the opposite I see happening on videos -- students violently beating or bullying others on the bus, including, at times, the driver. And if the driver defends him/herself, they are the one taken to court by the parent who defends their precious child by saying their "rights" were violated. School bus drivers have a tough job, and since federal laws take complete accountability away from the parents and students, dumping it firmly in the laps of school employees, nothing ever happens. The student may be suspended for a few days, but that's it. Schools have rules but back down when it comes to lawsuits -- they would rather pay out. Stupid, really.
