Do you think Iran is stupid to close its own access to the open seas. They have said that they will attempt to close the Strait only if Iran is attacked. As far as the US "muscle" is concerned, Iran is not concerned. All the US bases in the regions and the naval assets are within the range of Iranian cruise missiles and naval forces.
