The early morning pancakes came with a breakfast surprise in a Mission Valley, Calif., IHOP recently when a deer crashed through the window and capered in a panic around the restaurant.

The deer came through the front window about 7 a.m. Monday and began to run  through the restaurant, according to local ABC affiliate KGTV.

The store’s surveillance camera captured the chaos that ensued as the deer stumbling and confused, tried to find an exit. It first headed toward the kitchen, turned and scampered towards another window but was baffled by the blinds.

After nearly five minutes inside, the deer finally made its way towards an emergency exit the restaurant’s manager had  propped open and was gone.

Beyond a likely case of shock, no patrons or employees were injured in the incident.
