"GMA" is #1 for the Week: Outperforming NBC's "Today" By 646,000 Total Viewers and 165,000 Adults 25-54

"GMA" Grows Year-to-Year Among Adults 25-54 (+3%) and Total Viewers (+5%) While "Today" Declines -29% in Adults 25-54 and -19% Among Total Viewers

For the 2nd time in 2 weeks of the 2012-13 season, ABC News' "Good Morning America" was the No. 1 morning news program in both Total Viewers (4.932 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.870 million) for the week of October 1, 2012, according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" outdelivered "Today" (4.286 million and 1.705 million, respectively) by +646,000 Total Viewers and +165,000 Adults 25-54 to rank No. 1 in overall viewers for the last 8 weeks and No. 1 in the key adult news demo for the last 6 weeks. Further, in winning the first 2 weeks of the season, "GMA" marked its strongest competitive start to a season in 21 years - since the 1991-92 season.

Versus the year-ago week (4.708 million and 1.823 million, respectively, on w/o 10/3/11) , "GMA" increased by +5% in Total Viewers and by +3% in Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" stood as the only morning program to post gains year to year as "CBS This Morning" was down (-2%/-3%) and "Today" fell by double digits (-19%/-29%).

Similar to its premiere week performance, "GMA" outdrew the "Today Show" in all 5 head-to-head telecasts of the week in both Total Viewers (Mon: +425,000, Tues: +723,000, Wed: +870,000, Thurs: +425,000 and Fri: +785,000 ) and Adults 25-54 (Mon: +63,000, Tues: +65,000, Wed: +284,000, Thurs: +161,000 and Fri: +253,000) and once again held the Top 5 telecasts of the week in Total Viewers. Further, "GMA" staked claim to the week's No. 1 morning telecast in both Total Viewers (5.087 million - 10/3/12) and Adults 25-54 (1.895 million - 10/5/12).

Two weeks into the 2012-13 season, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by its largest season margins in overall viewers (+725,000) and in the key adult news demo (+210,000) in more than 21 years - since at least the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Season to date "GMA" is the only morning program to grow in both Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) versus its year-ago averages (NBC's "Today" is down -19%/-28%, respectively; CBS' "This Morning" is +2%/flat, respectively). "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in 7 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 5 years - since the 2005-06 and the 2007-08 seasons.

"GMA" towered over "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+95%) and Adults 25-54 (+86%).
