I am more sickened at an America that is enthused to watch someone die than I am at one criminal who wanted to watch somone die. To say that you would go to great lengths to have the chance to watch a person die and then call it justice is the greatest tradgedy. Why? Because you let the one action of another individual destroy and define who you are to a point where you are now no better than the criminal. Capital punishment, retribution, death penalty etc. No matter what you call it so that you can live with yourself in the morning and feel better about it; the end is always the same thing. These are just sweetened terms for the word kill. I condemn anyone who supports it no matter what the reason.

I think a key point is being missed by some of the people commenting. Executions don’t exist solely for satisfaction or to punish people. It doesn’t MATTER if the execution will bring the daughter back or make the victim’s family happy. What matters is removing a provably dangerous person from society so there is no chance of him returning to hurting others. Jail may sound like a good solution to this, but prisoners can hurt one another, escape, or be let out on parole. The only way to guarantee it doesn’t happen again is execution, which frankly, he deserves.

IT IS JUSTICE TO MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS THE JUSTICE THAT IS NOT THERE TO PROTECT HER I DONT CARE IF SEEMS WRONG TO SOME BUT I BELEIVE THAT FOR THAT CHILDS FAMILY IT IS TIME FOR THAT MAN TO DIE THEY SHOULD DO HIM THE SAME WAY HE DID THAT CHILD I WISH MORE OF THE MONSTERS LIKE THIS WERE BEING INJECTED OR PUT IN SAME CELL SO THEY NEVER TOUCH ANOTHER CHILD MAYBE IF WE STARTED ENFORCING THE RULE THAT SAY U KILL U DIE THEN MAYBE WE WOULDNT HAVE SO MUCH STUPID OUT HERE people in jail just hurts our economy cause we have to take care of the men like this this is not bout forgivenss its bout justice plain and simple parents might forgive but when you have a child hurt you want that person to be punished to the fullest extent possible

@ Deborah Wood. I can believe that it would cost that much maybe closer to $3,000. My son drove from California to Ohio, stayed 3 nights in the least expensive motels, at at gas/rest stops save for one GOOD meal, filled up his tank, etc. and the charges on his credit card are almost $700 for ONE PERSON, so if you take a week’s time (or better depending on if he gets executed “on time”, normal eating venues, gas, motel/lodging for 2 people, etc, and also depending upon the vehicle, yes, I could see it being close to $3,000..

What is the point of killing anyone? Revenge? We tout right-to-life laws, and say that all life should be preserved, but we’re ready to kill at the drop of a hat. I’m not debating his innocence. What he did was horrific. But killing him doesn’t help anyone. And it’s cheaper to keep inmates in the general population their whole lives than keep them on death row for 22 years.

Throw them into general population, where they’re faced with brutal violence and rape themselves. Let it sort itself out. It’s cheaper, and if you want suffering, he’ll get it in spades if you don’t kill him.

kimberly, what part of this did you not read – your remark ” Is it going to do anything to this convicted man, other than being able to WATCH THE MOTHER SUFFER a little more by watching her daughter’s killer DIE?” do you honestly believe the mother will SUFFER watching him die REALLY??? really? as far as forgiving him – she will – soon as he’s dead

All you preachers need to stop! He only stopped because he was locked up. He wasnt thinking about Jesus as he brutally raped , sodomized and murdered this child. I only find it disgusting that taxpayers foot the bill to keep people like this on death row for 20 years. Lethal injection is still far more humane than what I could think of for “people” like this. I would want to watch to see the look on his face as he dies knowing any suffering he was going through was nothing compared to horror that child suffered!
