I was at this event. I can tell you there was MUCH tail waigging and laughter, love and a few tears (I know I cried when I got to meet and hug Jonny Justice.) Vick has NEVER apologized to/about the dogs and walks away from anyone who tries to bring them up. He is a psycopath and shouldn’t have another dog. These dogs, through sheer will and force of personality, survived and are now just wonderful dogs. Vick CAN’T be forgiven because what he did was THAT awful. Wayne Pacelle is a media whore and shouldn’t be in charge of any “humane” organization. You’ll notice he’s been quite silent in the advent of Vick getting another dog. Vick didn’t “pay” for his crimes, he hired teams of lawyera and PR people so he could once agan play football and get a Nike contract. Karma is a bitch and she’s just waiting to meet him.

I met one of the Vick dogs when Tim Racer was dropping it at the vet for some care. Sweet little puppy. It was curling up in his lap as he sat on the ground waiting for the vet to open. I didn’t know it was a Vick dog until we met up again several days later when we were both picking up our dogs. When I found out I had a tear in my eye. So happy to read this article years later and know that the dogs are doing well.

Mr Wayne Pacelle of the Humane Society of the U.S. (not a government entity) who gave Vick another chance by publicly clearing him of what he did to these animals – not that he has the authority but the public doesn’t understand that, Pacelle collected money off these pit bulls claiming to house them which they did not. Pacelle made it possible for Vick to play ball again because the NFL saw it as ok if HSUS accepted him back into society. Pacelle and Vick are one in the same a FRAUD.

This is an awesome story! The sad part is, there are still so many out there continuing to be torchered…wish we could find them all and prosecute these human pieces of poop! I have two Pits and don’t know what I would do without their love! I will always have Pits, one more saved from asses like Vick!

Thanks for doing this story. Definitely a touching and fun, five-year celebration of humans doing the right thing and some amazing dogs who showed the world their individuality and resilience and unconditional love and also showing the world what we would have missed if they were not allowed to live. Dogs who experienced such cruelty and neglect in Vick’s dog fighting ring yet when surrounded by people who are committed to helping them, thrive and only enrich people’s lives. Just a perfect picture of some great people and compassion and integrity in action with their dogs and man’s best friend making us smile for what they have all overcome.

John: moved on? First of all, Vick did NOT replay his debt; he was NEVER convicted of any type of animal cruelty. Through a spectacular plea deal through his high-priced lawyers, he was charged with racketeering only (interstate gambling). He has never ever ever EVER apologized for what he did the the animals. Yes, he does occasional subdued and sedated “meetings” with high school groups etc (have you ever seen one? He is always lethargic/robotic, as if just going thorough the motions). I believe it is just to help rehabilitate his image. To get HSUS’ president Wayne Parcelle on his side, he donated $50,000. By the way Parcelle is another big issue and should not be president of the Humane society of the United States.

Bottom line: when dogs didn’t perform, he hung them, electrocuted them to death, held their head in a bucket of water until they drown, thew them into a pool and would not let them climb out so they drowned, and beat them to death. Nearly every killing was slow and premeditated, AS IF HE ENJOYED IT!

And we celebrate him. The world is upside down.

The Michael Vick that exists now is not the same Michael Vick that was around in those past years. He works with the Humane Society and is trying to be an instrument for positive change as he goes out and talks against animal cruelty. He also wants to make sure that his own children go down a much different path than his own earlier one and that they develop a respectful relationship towards animals. An article like this should make us rejoice for these dogs that have adapted well and are now happy, but it should not keep us back in the past concerning Michael. He has moved on and is beyond where he was at one time. That is how we evolve. To obsess about the past and hate and not let go is not right thinkiking.
