The palace announced that the royal couple are expecting a child and that Middleton is in the "very early stages" of pregnancy. She was admitted into a hospital today for treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum, an acute form of morning sickness which requires supplementary hydration and nutrients, the palace said.

The child will be third in line to the throne, after Prince Charles and Prince William.

The Twitter handle @IamRoyalBaby said that it may have the upper hand in the emerging Twitter wars over the newest royal.

The infant also felt the need to one-up his or her soon-to-be uncle, Prince Harry, who will be bumped to fourth in line to the throne with the baby's birth.
