Crime of passion or mistaken identity?
That is the big question hanging over the story of disabled Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius, who shot and killed his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, on Valentine’s Day.
Pistorius, 26, says he shot Steenkamp, 29, by accident, mistaking her for an intruder. Authorities have accused him of premeditated murder.
On Feb. 22 Pistorius was released on bail, one condition of which is that he not enter his home, in Pretorius, South Africa, where the shooting occurred. Detectives are combing the scene — Pistorius’ bed and en-suite bathroom in particular — for clues.
