From what I understand the Russians do this to us quite frequently where our borders meet in the Bering Sea. They test us to see how fast our reaction time is.

HP James and George need to read some history books it seems… Russia fought with Japan plenty of times… Starting in 1905, where Russia lost badly. Then again from 1932 to 1945 in what was simply called “border wars”, since Russia didn’t want to provoke Japan into attacking deeper into it’s territory and avoid fighting WW2 on both fronts. Look up battles “Lake Khasan” and “Khalkhin Gol”, which were way more than a simple border skirmish. After Soviet Union was done with Germany, it had to relocate a substantial amount of it’s military resources (millions of troops, etc.) to Far East region in order to push Japan off mainland. Using vastly better tanks/artillery, Russians swiftly defeated Japanese forces in Manchuria, which contributed to Japanese realization that they had no chance of winning the war and of-course having us drop A-bombs sealed the deal. :-) So my point is that Russians played their part in defeated Japanese as we played our role in defeating Germans. :-)
