For the 6th Week in a Row "World News" Grows Both Total Viewing and Demo Audiences Year-to-Year

Season-to-Date, "World News" Slashed Both Total Viewing and Demo Gaps with NBC to Smallest Margin in 4 Years

For the week of March 4, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 8.16 million Total Viewers and a 1.8 rating/7 share/2.16 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

"World News" cut its Total Viewer gap with "NBC Nightly News" compared to the same week last year by -27% (989,000 vs. 1.35 million) , representing the 10th straight week that the ABC newscast has decreased the Total Viewer margin.

For the 6th week running, "World News" registered gains on the year-earlier week among both Total Viewers (+8%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%) - 7.55 million and 2.03 million, respectively, on w/o 3/5/12. In fact, "World News" has improved its Total Viewer audience year-to-year for the last 11 weeks.

Season-to-date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+3%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 3 years - since the 2009-10 season. For the 3rd year in a row, "World News" narrowed its margins in both Total Viewers (-27%) and Adults 25-54 (-9%) with "NBC Nightly News" to post its smallest gaps (799,000 and 343,000, respectively) with the NBC program in 4 years- since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "ABC World News" beat "CBS Evening News" by 1.13 million Total Viewers and by 251,000 Adults 25-54.
