TO EVERYONE ELSE that wants to keep going on and on about the dam car seat WHY R U PPL SO NEGATIVE!? What that officer did was wonderful and in no way should there be ANY NEGATIVE comments made about it! With or without a car seat. I think the main reason is to get her and the child out of the rain and cold. With or without a car seat.

You must have mean judges in your area because I can honestly say (after a year of court monitoring) that if you had told that story to a judge in my county you would have had the charges dismissed instead. Any ticket like that can be contested in court. Angela, that really sucks. Their car had broken down, and she didn't have a cell phone, and at the time mine was dead. Her and her child had staid in the car until it became to cold and then was heading to a restaurant that was a little more then a mile away. She had given her child her coat as well and I stopped to give them a lift. Half mile down the road, came to a road block we told the police what had happened, and even where the car was if they could radio in a tow truck. They did nothing to help, and gave me a ticket that resulted in a $500 dollar fine, because the child was not in a car seat. (He was in the backseat with a seat belt on, the best I could do under the circumstances). My first question when I read the article was the same. Did he have an approved car seat in the car. Of course I saw the carseat when I studied the picture, but the question was valid. The police officer did a great thing, as you can see the officers I have to deal with aren't as caring. Big applause to him. in response to the people responding about the carseat issue, I gave a woman walking with her child a ride one winter here in NC mountains. That makes the cop in this story the complete opposite of the cop in mine. I guess you could call Officer Ziegler the "Anticop." I am glad to see that this officer went out of his way to be a good Samaritan and god bless him for his kindness. This story made me cry. They either arrest you in California or shoot you lol I am from Ohio originally and that is how people in the mid-west are (for the most part) Here in California where I now live (unhappily lol) the police would not make that jester; it your in a police car your under arrest. I got out of a bad situation and was walking down a street with a heavy dufflebag. A lady officer saw me stop to rest and asked if I was okay. I told her I was okay, it was hot and I needed to get downtown. She asked me if I wanted a ride, cleared it with her Sgt. and drove me twenty minutes to downtown. We often see or hear of cops doing the bad things, but in reality there are more good ones than bad. Just like in any job there will be the bad apples. Kudos to the officer and thanks. Most strollers now the car seat snaps onto the stroller such as the one this mom had. So he didn't nead to have the right sized car seat in his car this mom had it with her. Next time look before you pop off being so negative and try finding some good in this world. re safety seat…..take a look at the picture again and you will notice that the mom has the child in an infant carrier/carseat.
