First Excerpt to Air Tuesday, March 12 on “World News with Diane Sawyer”

Interview to Air Wednesday, March 13 on “Good Morning America” and “Nightline”

President Barack Obama will go one-on-one with George Stephanopoulos, anchor of “Good Morning America” and “This Week,” in an exclusive interview on Tuesday, March 12. The interview comes as President Obama is initiating conversations with Republican lawmakers to help avert another budget showdown later this month. Last week the President hosted a dinner with 12 Republican lawmakers, a lunch with House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan and Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the committee’s ranking Democrat. This week he is expected to continue courting lawmakers by traveling to Capitol Hill to meet with both Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

An excerpt of Stephanopoulos’ exclusive interview will air after it concludes Tuesday on “World News with Diane Sawyer” at 6:30 p.m., ET.

The exclusive interview will air Wednesday, March 13 on “Good Morning America” at 7:00 a.m., ET on the ABC Television Network and later that night on “Nightline” at 12:35 a.m., ET.  Portions of the interview will also be available on ABCNews.com, Yahoo!, ABC News Radio, and ABC’s local affiliates.

George Stephanopoulos is the anchor of the Emmy award-winning morning show “Good Morning America,” anchor of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and serves as ABC’s Chief Political Correspondent. “Good Morning America” airs live weekdays (7:00-9:00 a.m., ET) on ABC; Tom Cibrowski is senior executive producer. “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” airs Sunday mornings (check your local listings); Sandy Cannold is the executive producer.
