“This Week” Stands as the Only Public Affairs Program to Show Gains Week-to-Week and Year-to-Year

On March 17, 2013, ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” drew 2.527 million Total Viewers and 704,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.  The ABC public affairs program saw gains over the prior week (2.368 million and 646,000, respectively, on 3/10/13) in both Total Viewers (+7%) and Adults 25-54 (+9%)In addition, “This Week” stood as the only program to grow week to week in both measures compared to CBS’ “Face the Nation” (-15%/-16%), “NBC’s Meet the Press” (+6%/-2%) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (-19%/+7%).

“This Week” improved on the year-ago Sunday (2.081 million and 658,000, respectively, on 3/18/12) in Total Viewers (+21%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%), standing as the only public affairs program to post increases in either demo – CBS’ “Face the Nation” (flat/-10%), NBC’s Meet the Press” (-6%/-7%) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (-4%/-3%).

Season to date, “This Weekis up in Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+6%) versus its year-ago season averages, delivering its most-watched season in 3 years – since the 2009-10 season. “This Week” was up the most over the same point last season in both measures versus CBS’ “Face the Nation” (+8%/-5%), “NBC’s Meet the Press” (flat/-1%) and Fox’s “Fox News Sunday” (+8%/+1%).
