"ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" Continues to Grow Year-to-Year - Increasing Overall Audience in 17 of the Last 18 Weeks

ABC Slashes Total Viewing and Demo Gaps with "NBC Nightly News" in Half, Week-to-Week

Year-to-Year, ABC Cuts Total Viewing Gap with NBC by 32%

For the week of April 22, 2013, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 7.52 million Total Viewers and a 1.6 rating/7 share/1.87 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

"World News" saw its Total Viewer count grow from the year-ago week (+3% - 7.31 million on w/o 4/23/12) for the 6th straight week. In fact, "World News" has built on its overall audience year to year in 17 of the last 18 weeks.

"World News" slashed its week-to-week margins with "NBC Nightly News" in half among both Total Viewers (-55% - 605,000 vs. 1.35 million) and Adults 25-54 (-49% - 320,000 vs. 629,000).

"World News" cut its Total Viewer gap year-to-year with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits (-32% - 605,000 vs. 885,000), narrowing its Total Viewer margin on the same week last year in 5 of the last 6 weeks.

Season to date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+4%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 2 years - since the 2010-11 season. "World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" by double-digits among both Total Viewers (-27%) and Adults 25-54 (-10%) to post its smallest margins in Total Viewers (798,000) and Adults 25-54 (332,000) with the NBC program in 4 years - since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 1.08 million Total Viewers and by 155,000 Adults 25-54.
