In a medieval college town in Italy, two young women, Meredith Kercher and Amanda Knox, arrived for a year abroad, seeking new horizons.
Six weeks later, Kercher returned home in a coffin and Knox became a global obsession.
Watch Amanda Knox in an exclusive interview with Diane Sawyer set to air Tuesday at 10 p.m. ET.

Headline after headline labeled Knox a sexual thrill-seeker, a seductress and a murderer.
In an exclusive interview, Knox told ABC News’ Diane Sawyer that while she’d heard the gist of the things circulated about her – “American temptress,” “she-devil with an angel face,” “heartless manipulator,” “concertante of sex” and “sphinx of Perugia” – they were all wrong.
Amanda Knox’s memoir, “Waiting to Be Heard,” can be ordered HERE and HERE.
“I was in the courtroom when they were calling me ‘devil,’” she said. “I mean, it’s, it’s one thing to be called certain things in the media and then it’s another thing to be sitting in a courtroom, fighting for your life, while people are calling you a devil.”
“For all intents and purposes, I was a murderer — whether I was or not,” she said. “And I had to live with the idea that that would be my life.”
She said everything she ever posted online, every boyfriend in her life, came back to haunt her. She told ABC News that she wanted the truth to come out.
“I’d like to be reconsidered as a person,” Knox said. “What happened to me was surreal but it could’ve happened to anyone.”
At times angry, other times guarded, in tears, Knox said that after six years of speculation, she is waiting to be heard.

Clearly mad. She’ll kill again and and again and again until she’s stopped. Ship her back to Italy.

You are being heard. Just reading through the book right now. What a train wreck – and man o man are you committed to telling the truth and letting the chips fall where they may. You have my admiration.

She certainly feels sorry for herself. Not so sorry for the poor girl she murdered. I agree with 200,000; she’ll kill again. Anyone close to her is in danger.

Is it true that the State Department have agreed to return her to Italy? Fox News is reporting that some of the admissions in the book give the US authorities no choice except to return her under an Interpol agreement that the US is bound by. I am already boycotting all Italian products and businesses. If this is true I will also boycott any business that is next door to an Italian business and any product sharing a supermarket shelf with an Italian product. Amanda is Innocent!

Those who think she is guilty clearly have not done their research. Those who are undecided please do yourself a favor and do your own research. Anyone with an IQ in double digits and an ounce of common sense can see that she and Rafaele are innocent. A group of high school students could have closed this case in about 3 weeks.

She’s guilty. She may not have actually committed the murder – but she was there and participated.

Amanda Knok is guilty of murder; we have hundred of thousands of Americans of color in prisons all over America doiing life sentences with less evidence. Amanda Knox is scary evil, she committed this crime and the evidence proves it. She is free because of the lead taken by ABC News to convince America and the world that she was this poor American White girl who was being railed roaded. Ms. Knok is guilty as hell; this is White American justice, she is more concern about her self, not the dead victimnd. Again ABC New is helping her by promoting her bookand by keeping her on TV. ABC News should be ashamed for doing this. Ms. Knok will kill again; I hope that she is returned to prison to finish her time. The fools who purchased her book and the fool who made a movie about her are sick. Finally, she was convicted and OJ was aquited; she White and OJ is Black what a difference the color of your skin makes in America.

If she had beheaded LIVE children and said she was an abortionist, ABC and Diane Sawyer would be fine with it and not interview her
Posted by: Yep I said that | April 29, 2013, 9:36 pm 9:36 pm
Seriously I hope some of these people who made comments on here are judged the way they judge others. First of all the evidence overwhelmingly supports her innocence, secondly how can you say she will kill again? I guess what they say is true ignorance is bliss. As I read the comments I see a racist, a religious fanatic and the extreme judgmental. Another banner day for America

Why don’t they interview Amanda’s boss, Patrick Lumumba – the man she falsely accused of the murder of Meredith? I wonder what he would have to say about Amanda? When is his book going to come out? I’d like to hear his story. Does he think she should have served more jail time for ruining his reputation?

I followed the trial and read a lot about the murder. Particularly the forensics. Those who believe she is guilty are some seriously stupid and/or are willfully ignorant people. Get a life and find something else to hate on. Amanda Knox is free because she deserves to be..

Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito are innocent of all wrong doing. They were and are the victims of the Italian justice system attempting to save face. There is no motive, there is no evidence of their presence in the bloody bedroom (confirmed by a court ordered independent study), and there were no witnesses! That spells innocent.
Posted by: Maryville | April 29, 2013, 11:10 pm 11:10 pm
The real murderer was Rudy Guede who is in prison.
But to benefit his self, he blamed the murder on Amanda and Raffaele which delighted the medieval Prosecutor who is obsessed with some Satanic Sex Orgy murder, that he couldnt prove.
If the Italian courts use forensics an Innocent verdict.
If the Italian courts uphold the witch-hunting face saving system, it will be a guilty verdict.

One of the worst frame jobs in history. The prosecutor has since been stripped of his position and prosecuted for his own conduct in the case. The only people still whining about her being guilty are those who always look to blame America, and Americans, for all the world’s ills.

Knox Lies- ““For all intents and purposes, I was a murderer — whether I was or not,” she said. “And I had to live with the idea that that would be my life.”
You only say this because you KNOW YOU DID IT.
This is a CONVICTED LIAR- Upheld by every court in the land. She killed her roommate and is going back to jail. DON’T BUY THE LIE!

Amanda cannot look Dianne in the eye- wonder why!
Posted by: PressonDoug | April 30, 2013, 12:47 am 12:47 am
Why does she say “whether I was a murderer or not”? That is a very strange way to put it, if you are completely innocent.
Posted by: Carol Shookley | April 30, 2013, 1:10 am 1:10 am
@PRESSONDOUG – thats my thoughts exactly, IN FACT , it was googling ‘why cant amanda knox look people in the eye’ that brought me to this page !!

The prosecutor was just promoted actually, and has NOT been stripped of his job. Far from it. He’s up for the top prosecutor position of the region and was completely exonerated of the charges against him. Get your facts straight.
Posted by: Carol Shookley | April 30, 2013, 1:12 am 1:12 am
Why does Diane Sawyer have that puppy dog look in her eyes and emphasize “one thousand four hundred days in an Italian prison”? Not exactly an objective stance during this interview.
Do you realize her calumnia charge was just confirmed by the Italian Supreme Court and therefore she served that time legitimately in jail. That means the highest court did NOT think that her naming of Lumumba (the black guy set free after several weeks in prison) for the murder was coerced out of her by the police. It was HIS lawyer who called her a she-devil, not Mignini the main prosecutor.

Amanda, you freak me out on so many levels.

Meredith Kercher would also like to be reconsidered as a person. But Amanda Knox murdered her.

I served as foreman on a criminal trial jury for a bank robbery trial heavily covered by the Baltimore and D.C. media. I had the newspapers saved for me so I could read them after the two-week trial and was absolutely amazed at how much the reporters intentionally left out of their stories and withheld from readers to sensationalize the trial. So I’ve NEVER assumed I’m getting enough from the media to decide on someone’s guilt or innocence. I hope this pretty girl is NOT a devil. But I’m not in a position to know.

FAO. THE_MICK, You are quite right, which is why in the UK we have very strong subjudicary laws, and as a result of these TV journalists and Newspapers Journalists along with their publishers have been heavily fined under contempt of court rules.

Very similar to Selma, Alabama in the 1940s and 50s. Two rich white kids get off scott free,
and lay all the blame on a poor black man.

I so wish I could just hug you and make all this hell stop for you….I do not believe you killed your roommate, evidently that man who was arrested and jailed, not your boyfriend , who I believe did it. God bless you and keep you safe and may you have your life back soon. I have a daughter your age and can’t imagine what this is that you and yours have gone through. God bless you and your family, friends Amanda .Just shows there is little justice anywhere in the world….

PLEASE SEND HER BACK AND HAVE THE ITALIAN AUTHORITY KILL HER BECAUSE I TRULY THINK THAT SHE DID. SHE MUST PAY FOR HER CRIME!!
Posted by: JANE MO | April 30, 2013, 3:54 pm 3:54 pm
Clearly she didn’t do it.
If she had done it, clearly the boyfriend would have turned on her for a lighter sentence. That alone should make some of you “guilty” fools realize she didn’t do it. Unless you’re Italian in which case your sense of justice is already screwed up by having grown up in just a piss poor justice system.

Clearly, many American do not know all the evidence in this case against Miss Knox and her boyfriend, Mr. Sollecito. I’ve just learned that the family hired a PR firm in Knox’s home town and paid millions of dollars to feed the media what they wanted the media to hear. Money talks.
Most journalists also didn’t dig below the surface stuff.Or just repeated what her family told them. Oh, she supposedly looks so innocent. Why did many reporters rely on the Knox family, not Italian law experts to explain what was really going on.
People started making up stories about the prosecutor, but now people see the gossip and charges just didn’t stick. The truth is finally beginning to come out.
The evidence starts out with their lies and changing alibis. What innocent person changes their alibis-a few times? What innocent person carries on making out with her boyfriend, in front of the house where Meredith lay. At the police station, sitting in Raffaele’s lap, kissing and giggling and carrying on, laughing and having fun, while everyone else was in shock and crying about Meredith.
Now Amanda pretends she’s so serious and caring about Meredith. This fake act is only after 6 years and only when she has a book to sell?! Disgusting person.
Worse, accusing/blaming an innocent black man (Amanda’s boss) of murder, telling investigators she heard him murder Meredith Kercher. That poor man had to stay in jail for two weeks. Amanda never admitted her lie, until she had to. The black guy had an alibi and was released, thanks to a witness. Thankfully, he had an alibi and was released two weeks later.
There is definitive proof (prints and blood evidence) that shows not one, but three people assisted in the murder of Meredith Kercher.
This murder is truly horrific. But the chronic lying, the obvious staging of the crime scene to make police think someone climbed some impossible wall to break in. And nothing was even stolen, So much for the burglary theory!
These liar/murderers need to be put in their place–in prison.
Posted by: Jason Anderson | May 1, 2013, 1:32 am 1:32 am
The fact is that the conviction of Rudy Guede is for being an accomplice to murder. He did not do it alone and the considerable evidence will show how all three are involved. Amanda’s prison term had to be longer because she was charged and now definitively convicted for lying and defaming Patrick Lumumba.
If Patrick was your friend or relative and was as blameless as he was , and some young woman wrongly pointed the finger of blame to the police for a murder he had nothing to do with, you wouldn’t be so eager to think she’s some “innnocent abroad.” C’mon that “I’m so naive” act is an act to con, and congratulations, you’ve fallen for it. You know what Amanda Knox calls people like you? Suckers.

Italy does not have the death penalty, so that’s off the table.
Italy has one of the most defendant-friendly systems I’ve ever heard of. In prison, She seems to be having a decent time attending prison concerts, having special privileges that other prisoners did not have, movies, able to cook crab cakes in her own kitchen, she starred in some low-budget movie while in prison, danced to live concerts. lots of writing and reading time.
She never complained about the misery of prison and all the lurid details until she got $4 million dollars to write and sell a book. This woman will say anything. She’s just another Jodi Arias.
Weird that Jodi Arias and she share a lot of things, including the same birthday, which is OJ Simpson’s birthday, too.
Posted by: Jason Anderson | May 1, 2013, 1:55 am 1:55 am
Those who are convinced of her innocence did not follow the trial apparently. I guess we forgot all about her and her boyfriend being identified in a store early in the morning hours after they murdered Kercher, buying bleach, nor about the bleach cleanup at the murder scene. OJ was innocent too. I’ve been an attorney for over 30 years and I watched the entire interview and noted her body language, something I’ve become an expert at also. She’s a sociopathic liar. Sociopaths are polished liars. Not necessarily convincing, but they think of their feet. However, even her tentativeness in answering the softballs she was thrown, or her pathetically weak responses, screamed out. Hell is waiting for the dear girl.
Posted by: gwen | May 1, 2013, 1:38 pm 1:38 pm
Watch the interview again. When someone looks to the side and doesn’t look directly into someone’s face when answering questions, they’re trying to think up an answer.
It is so obvious she is a liar. SMH

Something is not right about Amanda Knox. Her explanation of seeing blood in the bathroom, calling her mother in the middle of the night scared and then not remembering in the morning? I’m like, yeah right! Her story doesn’t make sense and she is consumed with herself from the beginning. No tears for a friend that was brutally murdered? It’s odd…that would not be the normal person’s reaction. Meredith was a beautiful girl and I bet she had a lot of personality and charisma. I just think Amanda likes to be center stage. I think Meredith was going to give her a run for her money. Just my two cents on it. God bless the Kercher family. I can’t imagine the pain of their loss.
