May 2013 Sweep

Expanding on its success, ABC News' "Good Morning America" won the May 2013 Sweep in both Total Viewers (5.704 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.102 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" marked its first May sweeps victory in 18 years in Total Viewers and in 19 years in Adults 25-54 - since May 1995 and May 1994, respectively. In addition, the May 2013 Sweep represented "GMA's" 4th consecutive sweeps victory in Total Viewers and 3rd sweep in a row in Adults 25-54. In Adults 18-49, "GMA" tied "Today" for No. 1 in ratings (1.2/10), while trailing by only 4,000 Adult 18-49 viewers (1.507 million vs. 1.512 million)

In overall viewers and in the news demo, "GMA" led No. 2 ranked NBC's "Today" (4.783 million and 1.992 million) by its largest Total Viewer margin (+921,000) during any sweep in more than 21 years - since before the November 1991 sweep; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991. In Adults 25-54, "GMA" beat "Today" by its biggest news demo advantage (+110,000) during a sweep in 19 years - since May 1994.

"GMA" was up over the previous sweep in Total Viewers (+1% - 5.674 million for February 2013) to draw largest overall sweep audience in more than 21 years - since before the November 1991 Sweep.

Compared to the year-ago May 2012 sweep (5.164 million and 2.053 million, respectively), "GMA" improved in both Total Viewers (+10%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) . In fact, growing over the year-ago sweep for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" attracted its strongest May Sweep performance in Adults 25-54 in 7 years - since May 2006.

"GMA" nearly doubled the performance of CBS' "This Morning" during the month in both Total Viewers (+92%) and Adults 25-54 (+99%). In addition, "GMA" delivered its largest Total Viewer advantage (2.700 million) during a sweep in 8 years - since May 2005.

Week of May 20, 2013

"Good Morning America" stood as the morning's No. 1 broadcast in both Total Viewers (5.729 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.128 million), according to Nielsen Media Research for the week of May 20, 2013. "GMA" outperformed NBC's "Today" (4.856 million and 2.023 million, respectively) by +873,000 Total Viewers and by +105,000 Adults 25-54. "GMA" significantly increased its Total Viewer lead over "Today" compared to its year-ago week lead (+33,000 for w/o 5/21/12). Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached 26 million users in April 2013. It is the No. 1 morning news website and beats Today.com by millions of users each month.

"GMA" has ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in all 34 weeks of the season. In fact, the ABC morning newscast has ranked No. 1 every week in Total Viewers for more than 9 months (the last 40 weeks - since w/o 8/13/12). Further, "GMA's" 40 consecutive weeks at the top stand as its longest stretch at No. 1 in more than 21 years - since before the 1991-92 season; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

In Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in 28 of 34 weeks, representing the program's highest number of No. 1 finishes in a season in the key adult news demo in 20 years - since 1992-93.

"GMA" was up over the same week last year (5.066 million and 1.982 million, respectively, on w/o 5/21/12) in both Total Viewers (+13%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%), improving year to year in overall viewers in all 34 weeks this season. In contrast, "Today" (-4%/-9%) has not only seen losses year to year in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 in all 34 weeks of the season, it has turned in losses for the last 40 weeks, starting with the week following the 2012 Summer Olympics (since w/o 8/13/12).

With the week's No. 1 morning telecast on Wednesday (6.466 million and 2.327 million on 2/22/13) , the morning following the "Dancing with the Stars" finale" "GMA" turned in its most-watched telecast in 3 months (since 2/20/13, the return of Robin Roberts to the "GMA" anchor desk) and 2nd most-watched since the royal wedding 2 years ago (since 4/29/11). In addition, "GMA" outdelivered "Today" (4.658 million) on Wednesday by its largest single-day margin (1.808 million) in 19 years - since 5/18/94.

Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. It is leading "Today" by its largest season margin in overall viewers (+648,000) in more than 21 years and in the adult news demo (+76,000) in 20 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 1992-93 season, respectively; Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991.

Season to date "GMA" is up in both Total Viewers (+8%) and Adults 25-54 (+2%) versus its year-ago averages, growing the most in the key adult news demo (NBC's "Today" is down -13%/-18%, respectively; CBS' "This Morning" is up +11%/+1%, respectively). "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in 8 years and best Adult 25-54 performance in 5 years - since the 2004-05 and 2007-08 seasons, respectively.

For the week, "GMA" beat "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+80%) and Adults 25-54 (+90%).
