The body of a man who drowned in the floodwaters of Superstorm Sandy was not discovered until April, nearly six months after the storm hit his home in New York City.

The 62-year-old man was found dead in a trailer in the Rockaways, in Queens, according to the city's Medical Examiner's office. The peninsula was one of the hardest-hit sections of the city in the storm.

According to the office, a friend who had not heard from Keith Lancaster for months went to the trailer on April 5, 2013, to check on him and found the body.

The coroner concluded that Lancaster drowned during the October, 2012, storm, and was never reported missing.

Lancaster's death brings the total number of people killed in New York City during Sandy to 44.

ABC News could not locate family members of Lancaster for contact.
