ABC Slashes Total Viewing Gap with NBC by 23% and Demo Gap by 9%, Season-to-Date

For the week of June 10, which saw ABC newscasts pre-empted in parts of the country due to sports coverage, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 6.80 million Total Viewers and a 1.4 rating/7 share/1.71 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Season-to-date, "World News" has increased its Total Viewing audience (+3%) compared to the same point last season, drawing its most-watched season in 2 years - since the 2010-11 season. "World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" among both Total Viewers (-23%) and Adults 25-54 (-9%) to post its smallest margins (787,000 and 322,000, respectively) with the NBC program in 4 years - since the 2008-09 season.

For the week, "World News" beat "CBS Evening News" by 990,000 Total Viewers and by 235,000 Adults 25-54 .

Note :Due to the NBA Finals Game 3 on Tuesday (6/11/13) and Game 4 on Thursday (6/13/13), "World News" was retitled "Wrld News Tonite" and the telecasts were excluded from the averages. In addition, "NBC Nightly News" was retitled "NBC-Nitely-News" on Wednesday (6/12/13 for Game 1 of Stanley Cup Finals) and on Thursday and Friday (6/13 - 6/14/13 for U.S. Open Golf) and the telecasts are excluded from the averages. ABC's weekly average is based on three days (Mon, Wed and Fri), NBC's weekly average is based on two days (Mon-Tues) and CBS' weekly average is based on five days.
