ABC News Investigative Team Wins National Press Club Award

ABC News Recognized for "Nightline" Investigation "The Ugly Truth Behind High Stepping Horses"

Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross, producer Megan Chuchmach, and the ABC News investigative team have won a National Press Club Award for their "Nightline" investigation "Ugly Truth About High Stepping Horses."

In a far reaching report that spurred industry wide change and calls for Congressional oversight, ABC News exposed the ugly truth behind famed Tennessee walking horses - that large numbers have been tortured and beaten in order to make them produce the high stepping gait that wins championships.

This is the second award for the investigation. It received a prestigious Genesis Award earlier this year.

The National Press Club has been a Washington institution for more than a century. The organization dedicates itself to supporting the ongoing improvement of journalism.
