2-Year-Old and Coach Saved From Cistern in Kentucky Park

A dramatic scene occurred right before 8 p.m. Thursday in Louisville, Ky., when a little girl fell into an abandoned cistern in the middle of a football field.

Myahana Moore, 2, was playing and running through the field in Russell Lee Park when she stumbled into the hole.

Youth football coach Terrance Washington, 46, happened to see the girl fall and, without hesitating, jumped into the cistern after her. But in his attempt to rescue Myahana, both he and Myahana got trapped.

They were 14 feet underground for more than an hour before rescue crews could finally pull them out.

Both the little girl and Washington have been treated and released from the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
