ABC News President Ben Sherwood sent the following note to the news division announcing that Erle Norton joins ABC News as Executive Producer of ABC News Digital:
I'm delighted to share that Erle Norton joins us today as the new Executive Producer of ABC News Digital, overseeing editorial and video operations across ABCNews.com.
Growing ABC News Digital is one of our most important priorities. Erle will work closely with Joe Ruffolo and the product, editorial and video teams to further enhance the editorial experience and to ensure greater integration across all our platforms. And he's charged with developing our lifestyle, tech and enterprise verticals; continuing to improve the user experience on mobile and tablet devices; and expanding live stream and digital video opportunities.
A tech-savvy and creative executive, Erle joins us from Thompson Reuters, where he served as editorial director of Reuters Digital Video and managed video operations for Reuters.com and other platforms worldwide. Prior to joining Thompson Reuters, Erle oversaw NYPost.com, doubling its traffic and successfully increasing integration between the digital and print teams.
Throughout the 1990s, Erle was a business reporter for the Wall Street Journal - where he landed several coveted Page 1 stories - and local papers in Florida, North Carolina, and his native Georgia.
He was one of the first employees at TheStreet.com and has maintained that innovative, start-up mentality throughout his career.
An accomplished executive with a real hunger for news, storytelling and online media, Erle will help us find innovative ways to deliver news and information to our growing digital audience. Along with his passion for news, Erle is an avid surfer and enjoys spending his free time outdoors near his home on Long Beach, Long Island.
He joins ABC News at a time of tremendously exciting growth and opportunity.
Erle is a digital expert with extensive editorial and production experience and I'm confident he will help lead our superb team to the next level.
Please join me in welcoming Erle.
