In a music video posted to the department's Facebook page last week, Hampton police officers, dressed in Santa hats, sing along to their own version of "Jingle Bells."

"Please pick up the phone if you think you need police," the song opens. "The number is 911, for emergencies."

"Oh jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way…it's not fun to get locked up and brought down to the jail."

The nearly two minute video warns citizens to stay safe and stay out of trouble with tips like staying in well-lit areas and not carrying large amounts of cash.

"Shoplifting is a crime, and Santa doesn't play, so if you see a criminal call HPD today," the officers sing.
