"This Week" Posts Week-to-Week Increases in Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 , While Both CBS' "Face the Nation" and NBC's "Meet the Press" Turned in Losses

On January 19, 2014, ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" ranked No. 1 in both Total Viewers (3.016 million) and Adults 25-54 (949,000). "This Week" outdelivered CBS' "Face the Nation" by 242,000 Total Viewers and by 226,000 Adults 25-54, posting its largest margins over the CBS program in more than 1 year - since 9/2/12 and 10/7/12, respectively. In addition, "This Week" led NBC's "Meet the Press" by 176,000 Total Viewers and by 159,000 Adults 25-54, beating the NBC program in 3 of the past 5 Sundays in both Nielsen measures.

"This Week" posted week-to-week increases (2.860 million and 792,000, respectively on 1/12/14) in Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+20%), while both CBS' "Face the Nation" (-19%/-28%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-8%/-7%) turned in losses.

For the 4th Sunday in a row, "This Week" improved on its year-earlier telecast in Total Viewers (+25%) and Adults 25-54 (+35%) - 2.414 million and 705,000, respectively on 1/20/13. In fact, "This Week" improved the most year to year in both demos compared to CBS' "Face the Nation" (-10%/-23%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-4%/-17%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+18%/-1%).

Season to date, " This Week" is up in Total Viewers (+9%) and Adults 25-54 (+3%) versus its year-ago season averages. Growing in both measures for the 2nd year in a row, "This Week" is delivering its most-watched season in 5 years and best news demo performance in 4 years - since the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, respectively. In addition, "This Week" is up the most in both measures compared to the same point last season versus CBS' "Face the Nation" (+2%/+1%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-9%/-15%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (-2%/-15%).

In addition, "This Week" leads NBC's "Meet the Press" this season in Total Viewers (+44,000) and Adults 25-54 (+6,000), beating the NBC program during a season for the first time in 17 years in overall viewers and in 20 years in the key adult news demo - since the 1996-97 and 1993-94 seasons, respectively.
