"World News" Wins Adults 25-54 Demo on Friday for Second Consecutive Week

For Fourth Week in a Row, "World News" Closes the Demo Margin With "NBC Nightly News" by Double Digits Compared to One Year Ago

"World News" Narrows Margin with "NBC Nightly News" in the Demo by 42% and in Total Viewers by 26% from Last Week

ABC Program Posting Smallest Season Margin with NBC in the Demo in Five Years

"World News" Having Most Watched Season to Date in Four Years

For the week of January 13, 2014, "ABC World News with Diane Sawyer" averaged 8.468 million Total Viewers and a 1.8 rating/7 share/2.175 million in Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research.

For the 2nd week in a row, "World News" ranked as the No. 1 evening newscast on Friday in Adults 25-54, beating NBC's "Nightly News" by +163,000 demo viewers (2.037 million vs. 1.874 million on 1/17/14).

"World News" narrowed its margins with "NBC Nightly News" from the previous week by double-digits in both Total Viewers (-26% - 936,000 vs. 1.271 million) and Adults 25-54 (-42% - 154,000 vs. 264,000), posting its closest performance with the NBC program in both measures 11 weeks - since w/o 10/28/13.

For the 4th consecutive week, "World News" cut its Adults 25-54 margin with "NBC Nightly News" from the same week last year by double-digits (-38% - 154,000 vs. 249,000).

Season to date, "World News" is up versus the same point last season in Total Viewers (+2%), delivering its most-watched season in 4 years - since the 2009-10 season. In addition, "World News" is narrowing its season margin with "NBC Nightly News" in Adults 25-54 by double digits (-23% - 274,000 vs. 354,000) compared to its season margin from the same point last year. In fact, "World News" is posting its smallest news demo margin with the NBC program in 5 years - since the 2008-09 season.

"World News" has also significantly widened its Adults 25-54 lead over "CBS Evening News" versus its year-ago season lead by 88% (333,000 vs. 177,000).

For the week, "ABC World News" beat the "CBS Evening News" by 983,000 Total Viewers and by 387,000 Adults 25-54.
