How Olympian Is Making History Even Before the Medals Are Decided
Sarah Hendrickson, a Team USA ski jumper, will be the first woman to ever compete in ski jumping at the Olympic games.
The 19-year-old from Salt Lake City tweeted today that she has the coveted No. 1 bib, meaning she will be the first woman to take flight today in the competition.
I am bib number one today. That means I will be the first girl EVER to ski jump in an Olympic event. ALL SMILES :)

Ski jumping runs in Hendrickson's family. After watching her father and brother, Hendrickson took up her own skis when she was 7.
Since then, she's made a name for herself, and racked up impressive wins: a U.S. title, a World Championship gold medal and a World Cup globe.
No matter the outcome today, she said she's proud to be one of the 30 female competitors to make history.
Three women ski jumpers will walk away with medals today but 27 others helped make history. And THAT'S what we have to be proud of.
