February 2014 Sweep

ABC News' "Good Morning America" won the February 2014 Sweep in Total Viewers (5.851 million), according to Nielsen Media Research. Despite airing against an Olympics-boosted NBC, "GMA" led "Today" (5.806 million) by 45,000 Total Viewers, marking "GMA's" 7th consecutive sweeps victory and its first back-to-back February win in over 20 years - since February 1993 and 1994. Additionally, GoodMorningAmerica.com on Yahoo! reached almost 21 million users last month

In Adults 25-54, "GMA" (2.306 million) ran neck-and-neck with "Today" (2.348 million) during the February 2014 Sweep with only 42,000 demo viewers separating the two programs.

Compared to the previous sweep, "GMA" held nearly all of its Total Viewer performance (5.851 million vs. 5.954 million for November 2013) to draw its 2nd most-watched sweep in more than 22 years - since before November 1991. In Adults 25-54, "GMA" improved on the previous sweep by 4% (2.306 million vs. 2.228 million for November 2013) to score its best news demo sweeps performance in 7 years - since February 2007.

Compared to the February 2010 sweep during the 2010 Winter Olympics, "GMA" delivered double-digit increases in Total Viewers (+24%) and Adults 25-54 (+16%) - 4.715 million and 1.993 million, respectively. In contrast, NBC's "Today" turned in losses from its sweeps performance four years ago (-4%/-16% - 6.038 million 2.797 million, respectively) .

Competitively, "GMA" beat "Today" in Total Viewers during the February 2014 while placing behind the NBC program in February 2010 (+45,000 vs. -1.323 million). "GMA" slashed nearly all of its Adults 25-54 margins with "Today" versus is news demo margin for February 2010 (-95% - 45,000 vs. 804,000).

"GMA" outperformed CBS' "This Morning" during the month in Total Viewers (+83%) and Adults 25-54 (+113%), delivering its largest news demo advantage (1.225 million) during a sweep in nearly 8 years - since May 2006.

Week of February 24, 2014

ABC News' "Good Morning America" won the week following the Winter Olympics, ranking No. 1 in Total Viewers (5.788 million) and Adults 25-54 (2.297 million) for the week of February 24, 2014, according to Nielsen Media Research . This stands as the 2nd straight Total Viewer win for "GMA" in the week following Olympics - also winning w/o 8/13/12, the week following the 2012 Summer Olympics. "GMA" beat NBC's "Today" (5.462 million and 2.219 million, respectively) during the week by 326,000 million Total Viewers and by 78,000 Adults 25-54.

"GMA" has ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers in 83 of the last 87 weeks (since w/o 6/25/12), finishing behind "Today" only during the 2 weeks of the 2012 Summer Olympics and the 2 weeks of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

In Adults 25-54, "GMA" has ranked No. 1 in 19 of the 23 weeks of the season, pacing ahead of the No. 1 finishes at the same point of the 2012-13 Season (17 of 22 weeks).

"GMA" posted week-to-week increases (5.590 million, 2.174 million and 1.497 million, respectively, on w/o 2/25/13) across all key target demos: Total Viewers (+4%) , Adults 25-54 (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+4%).

"GMA" improved on the same week last year among Adults 25-54 by +2% (2.297 million vs. 2.241 million on w/o 2/25/13). In fact, the ABC morning newscast has turned in year-to-year gains in the key adult news demo in 16 of the last 17 weeks.

For the current week, based on the Fast Nationals for Monday (3/3/14), "Good Morning America's" post-Oscars telecast averaged 7.127 million Total Viewers and 2.875 million Adults 25-54. "GMA" grew by 11% in overall viewers and by 16% in the key adult news demo compared to its year-ago post-Oscars telecast (6.407 million and 2.475 million, respectively, on 2/25/13). In fact, "GMA" drew its largest-ever audience for its Monday post-Oscar show since the Oscars started airing on Sunday night 15 years ago (3/21/99), while marking its best in Adults 25-54 in 9 years (2/28/05).

Season to date, "GMA" stands as the No. 1 morning news program for the 2nd straight year in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 601,000 Total Viewers and 78,000 Adults 25-54. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season in Total Viewers by 6% (601,000 vs. 581,000) and in Adults 25-54 by 5% (78,000 vs. 74,000). Further, "GMA" is posting its largest Total Viewer season margin in more than 22 years and biggest in Adults 25-54 in 22 years - since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991) and the 1991-92 season, respectively.

Growing for the 3rd year in a row, "GMA" is up by double-digits over the same point last season in both Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%). In fact, "GMA" is seeing its largest overall season audience in more than 22 years and best Adults 25-54 performance in 8 years - since before the 1991-92 season and the 2005-06 seasons, respectively.

During the week, "GMA" beat "CBS This Morning" by 89% in Total Viewers, while more than doubling in Adults 25-54 (+137%) and Adults 18-49 (+135%) .
