For the 2nd Week in a Row, "This Week" Turns in Double-Digit Year-to-Year Increases in Both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54

On May 4, 2014, ABC News' "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" averaged 2.623 million Total Viewers and 771,000 Adults 25-54, according to Nielsen Media Research. "This Week" led NBC's "Meet the Press" for the 3rd straight Sunday in both Total Viewers (+335,000) and Adults 25-54 (+241,000). In fact, "This Week" has beaten "Meet the Press" in 10 of the last 11 weeks in Total Viewers and 9 of the last 11 in Adults 25-54. Further, No. 3 ranked"Meet the Press" turned in its smallest Adults 25-54 performance (530,000) in more than 22 years - since at least September 1991, the start of Nielsen's electronic database, based on regular telecasts.

For the 2nd week in a row, "This Week" turned in double-digit year-to-year increases in both Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 25-54 (+19%) - 2.368 million and 646,000, respectively on 5/5/13. "This Week" stood as the only public affairs program to grow its Total Viewer audience and increased the most in the key adult news demo, as CBS' "Face the Nation" (flat/+14%)was mixed, with Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (-10%/-26%) with double-digits losses and NBC's "Meet the Press" (-11%/-32%) down the most year to year.

Season to date, " This Week" is up by double-digits in Total Viewers (+13%) and Adults 25-54 (+12%) versus its year-ago season averages. Growing in both measures for the 2nd year in a row, "This Week" is delivering its strongest performance in 5 years - since the 2008-09 season. In addition, "This Week" is up the most from the same point last season in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 versus CBS' "Face the Nation" (+1%/+3%), NBC's "Meet the Press" (-6%/-9%) and Fox's "Fox News Sunday" (+2%/-10%).

In addition, "This Week" leads NBC's "Meet the Press" this season in both Total Viewers (+111,000) and Adults 25-54 (+41,000), beating the NBC program during a season for the first time in 17 years in overall viewers and in 20 years in the key adult news demo - since the 1996-97 and the 1993-94 seasons, respectively.
