"GMA" is Widening its Season Margins Over "Today" Compared to the Same Point Last Season
ABC News' "Good Morning America" ranked as the No. 1 morning newscast across all key target demos: Total Viewers (5.216 million) , Adults 25-54 (1.931 million) and Adults 18-49 (1.380 million) for the week of October 20, 2014, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "GMA" beat the No. 2-ranked "Today" (4.612 million, 1.764 million and 1.379 million, respectively) by 604,000 Total Viewers, by 167,000 Adults 25-54 and by 1,000 Adults 18-49.
"GMA" increased its Adults 25-54 lead over "Today" both week to week (+6% - 167,000 vs. 158,000) and year to year (+114% - 167,000 vs. 78,000). "GMA" has widened its news demo lead over the NBC program versus the year-ago week in all 5 weeks of the season to-date.
Season to date, "GMA" is the No. 1 morning newscast in all key demos: Total Viewers, Adults 25-54 and Adults 18-49. "GMA" is leading NBC's "Today" by 821,000 Total Viewers, by 224,000 Adults 25-54 and by 36,000 Adults 18-49. In fact, "GMA" has widened its season margins over "Today" versus the same point last season by 7% in Total Viewers (821,000 vs. 765,000) and by a substantial 300% in Adults 25-54 (224,000 vs. 56,000), and is now leading "Today" in Adults 18-49 this season.
Ranking No. 1 for the 3rd straight season, "GMA" is seeing its largest season margins over "Today" in both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 in more than 23 years - since at least the 1991-92 season (Nielsen's electronic database started on September of 1991).
During the week, "GMA" beat "CBS This Morning" in Total Viewers (+69%) , Adults 25-54 (+91%) and Adults 18-49 (+96%) .
