Hope depression isn’t waiting around the corner for you, and remember this: You cannot cure it by “putting on a little lipstick and taking a walk and counting your blessings, ” which is what Mom always told me to do. AMEN! Most of the population enjoys good mental health and should count their blessings instead of making stupid and utterly insensitve remarks. Hope you are doing well. I can't believe how many people are so ignorant on this subject. First of all mental illness is real. I do not have a menal illness, but have witnessed bizarre behavior from mentally ill patients. The brain is more complex than most people could even imagine! How is it so hard for people to accept mental illness as a legitimate disease, and yet accept alzheimers disease? Before you judge, maybe you should get a MD, because an intelligent person with knowledge about the human brain would know better than to dismiss such a widespread illness. I do understand that many people do fake their problems to receive disablity, but there are just as many honest people who do have a mental illness! WOW! I thought this was an article about the number of people that think the Marxist is doing a great job as president. I’m sorry. After many years of this my only options seemed to be go on public assistance and hope that I wouldn't get hospitalized to much. Well I couldn't accept that I would have to rely on the government or the medical field for my recovery and after many years of hard work I have been medication free and employed for almost 4 years. I never wanted to be on disability, but its starting to look like a good idea. Ive been working without health benefits and now my symptoms are returning, I cant afford insurance and i make to much for public assistance insurance. If my illness returns and I have to be hospitalized I may just give up this time and enter the system to stay there. I'm an American with mental illness that believed hard work not charity would solve this..... I guess I was wrong. To whom it may concern,

In fact, companies who produce the drugs are prohibited from making more than the government tells them to. So complain to the government for keeping us all sick. It would be more true if it read "1 in 5 Americans Have Been Sold the Idea The Suffer from Mental Illness." The truth of the matter is that more and more fake mental illnesses have been "invented" through the criminal collusion between psychiatry and the drug industry. Another good headline would be "Americans Have Become a Society of Psychiatric Drug Addicts." Why doesn't ABC News get out of the entertainment business and do some actual reporting, rather than parrot the drivel put out by BigPharma publicists? That's the underlying plan anyways; diagnose a significant portion of the populace with a 'mental illness' and then deny them rights because they're 'sick'. Remember that next time you feel depressed or anxious and contemplate seeking help. They're not there to help you, they are there to help themselves control you even moreso. Also, Not too many of the legions of skid road male bums ever get diagnosed. I’m sure women supposedly have a higher “incidence” because they go to doctors a lot more often than men. It just goes to show that if you spend too much time worrying about politics, you will go bonkers. it’s so ironic how an article about mental illness induces such politically-motivated paranoid comments.
