I agree downsizing will help battle USA the obese factor.Smaller portions are not as bad as everyone thinks.People just need to get use to.

Yes I would accept a downsized portion with a lower price accordingly. Restaurants already serve portions way too large, like for 2 or 3 people. At buffets it's so tempting and easy to take more than you really need. I've decided at restaurants where the portions are so large, when I begin to feel full to stop and leave the rest.

Excellent! My sister and I go out to dinner and always just split the meal. Amercians eat way to much food and the portions are way to large. Try it! Thank you.

Wasn't this the whole point of fast food places having small fries, small drinks, and basic burgers on their menus? They have the larger portions and the unlimited drink refills (making cup sizes irrelevant) now because people wanted them.

I agree with you Rick, I mostly order a Jr or a larger kids meal if it's available. Otherwise, I go for the dollar menu items since they are usually smaller portions in the first place.

I find the jr. meals are more than enough. the regular value meals at fast food places is a bit too much food for me.

I often buy single servings of foods that I shouldn't eat too much of (slice of cake, bag of chips, etc.) even though it's more economical to buy the larger bag/product. I consider it worthwhile to eat what I'd like without the temptation of woofing down 1000 calories because I couldn't muster the willpower to resist. Given the option to downsize in a restaurant, I'd gladly accept...even without a discounted price.

Only if they downsize the prices accordingly. Then I'd be happy to see smaller portions available - as an option, that is.

This has nothing to do with the health of Americans or choice. It's just inflation in a different form (less bang for your buck, instead of more bucks for the same bang), wrapped in a marketing-driven wrapper. And they can shove that $0.25 discount where the sun don't shine. You can barely buy a bite of a candy bar with a quarter anymore. Thanks for the quarter with the order of salt and side order of death, guys.

Incidentally for those who pick the downsized meal and decide they still feel hungry, they will buy another portion of food. And it'll be very cost effective (and efficient for profits) for restaurants. The consumer will still have a big waistline and incidentally, the amount of food that goes in the trash will increase. Not everything is as fine and dandy as they say.
