"Fear makes the wolf look bigger"

I used to be afraid of spiders. Then one took up residence in the corner of my bedroom window, right next to my bed. I was terrified at first, but then I realized, "Ok, I made it through a whole night without anything bad happening" so I just let it be. Eventually I got used to it being there, and now spiders fascinate me. I still don't like them crawling on me, but I don't get the cold sweats and panic attacks like I used to. Now I just brush them off.

Unless the startle me, then all bets are off...
