A little out of focus you say, gee that is what Buckminster Fuller said was a reason for his keen insight. He blamed it on his nearsightedness (Maybe it was farsightedness one or the other). He said that seeing things out of focus gave him a different perspective that allowed his mind to work on the substance of things.

I used to agree with the saying “If alcohol isn’t the answer, then you didn’t ask the right question”.
However, with addictive personalities and substance abuse, I’m more prone to say “everything in moderation”.

The reason alcohol in small doses works is it kills (clears out) all the older junk brain cells that you don’t need anymore. Like dead skin, leaving you with a fresh “new” neural network for your ” creative new new brain activity!” That is why they say don’t drink too much! LOL

this is horrible statistics! only 40 men were used. 20 were drunken, 20 were not. They had to answer 15 mind-teaser questions of which neither set did particularly well (drunkard was 58% and the sober one was 42% – both are Fs on a standard grading scale) this isn’t even remotely conclusive. I would expect better research from a graduate student. How is this even news?

I suppose that the study is applicable if you need alcohol to ‘uncork the muse.’ The sample size is a little small though and it excludes those people who aren’t social drinkers. Personally I find it easy to creatively solve problems without an assist, but then that is the way my mind works. When talking about problems and solutions, I’ve often had people ask what I was on when I came up with them. My answer: A natural high.
