Just to warn other people out there who may be interested in working with this place in Louisianna. I had two phone consults with the Dr scheduled, the first time he had an "emergency at the hosptial" cough cough and the second one they rescheduled he no called no showed. Obviously, not someone you would want operating on you. Stay away, there are plenty of other reputable firms who keep their obligations when its as simple as a phone call-no way you would want someone like that cutting you up

I agree with @Renee. 20-30 pounds is not so high that you will need weight loss surgery. You can even loose this with some changes in your daily routine. Workouts and balanced diets are enough to make you loose that much weight. For more you can consult a dietitian or physical trainer..

Dr. Shawn Garber, director of the New York Bariatric Group, should also address the fact that he has a staff member in his group, Dr. Javier Andrade, who killed Cleveland Mark Mitchell by failing to provide the basic standard of care in a Galveston, Texas emergency room. You be the judge for yourself. Goggle: Why did you drop the ball Dr Andrade?

I wholeheartedly agree with you Blue. I am a post-gastric bypass patient, and while I got my surgery for health reasons (prevent diabetes, stroke, etc.) these patients seem to want nothing more than to look better. 25 pounds over isn't even obese, it's merely overweight and can be managed. I know most insurance companies that cover bariatric surgery require proof of years of weight trouble and multiple attempts to lose weight. Some even require you to diet and exercise while waiting for surgery, I only hope that these doctors accepting cash payment are doing the same thing.

The thing I caught right away in this article was the statement by the patient that stated “I’m just tired of wearing a size 14 bathing suit. I want to wear a 6 or 7 like everybody else,” says Talley.Sorry but the "everyone" she is talking about does not wear a 6 or 7.I hope they are providing pre surgical Councilors fore these people. What next she will want to be a 3 or 4.Sounds like a quick fix for a long term problem that is more than just body weight--it is body image.
