No were in the above article does the writer "make it sound" as though eating junk will make you a good athlete. The writer simple reports the truth. And the truth is that these athletes on days of hard training eat lots of simple carbs for energy. Unfortunately, the above reader has an emotional issue with the report. The majority of Americans are overweight, suffering from heart disease, diabetes, and cancer and in a round about way you are promoting the eating of junk food! For the athletes, it may be a great source for CALORIES which they burn due to their extreme amount of exercise, however, these foods are NOT nutritious and are the source for much suffering...both of the humans that consume them and the animals whose lives are stolen. We must stop measuring our health based on what "celebrities" consider healthy, and look at the illness being caused by consuming these products and the suffering of other creatures for the sake of the bottom line. Please give equal time to modern athletes whose diets are plant based, healthy, good for the environment, could cut the cost of health care, and prevent/reverse chronic illnesses!
