Here's the thing. Portales, NM is a border state to Texas. They get their peanuts from Texas. The peanut farmers are leasing the land to fracking and oil companies. I wonder if their is a connection because the water they use for their peanuts is being contaminated by the drilling. My husband works out hauling water that these companies use and lets just say there is a lot of chemicals passing through ground and aquifer water. One of the biggest aquifers in the US is being fracked and drilled into like there is no tomorrow and it reaches from NM to Wyoming. Just wondering if it has anything to do with it?

ps. I remember the specifc story in 2008- the plant owner who forced his employees to HURRY AND PROCESS the peanuts from the floor- before regulators took them- and as far as I can tell that's how the industry operates across the board. So as much as we like peanut butter- we can't come back. This is no isolated case.

Not that anyone from the industry is reading this board..I wish...but- to the peanut butter (and I guess, plain peanut) industry- I hope the short cuts in the short term were financially worth it for you. Because myself and my family are buying NO more. Sure, we'll come across some usage by accident, but the days of buying any sort of peanut, or any sort of peanut butter are over for us. No assurance you can make is adequate- after this recall and the recall of 2008. You apparently care only about sale and not about safety. Fair enough, And sorry, this goes industry-wide. I don't really have the time to check the specific recall brands (which change every 10 days anyway) so from here on....no purchasing peanut butter products or peanuts for us. And I'm sure we're not alone. Again, no assurance or amount of time will help. You obviously can't control your need to release disease product, ever.

We need less government regulation and let these industries regulate themselves. They are the experts and know what's best for the consumer. Thank you Ronald Reagen for privatization and trickle down economics!!! Now that are food sources are corporately controlled, why not social security, too??

The problem is less the FDA and more that everything is made under one giant company instead of smaller ones. This is the same reason the E.coli outbreaks originally started happening at mcdonalds, they bought all the meat companies to have more control and make more money, and guess what, the meat ended up contaminated several times.

As long as this web site is covering recalls, we may as well compell the FDA to recall wheat with the gliadin protein; it binds with your opiate receptors and compells a feeling of excessive hunger. Hence, you eat more and get fat. So much for the current 'we've got fat children, let's get'em skinny trend paradigm. The genetically engineered wheat is the root cause. See the book 'Wheat Belly.' Another cause of your gut wrenching pain, salmonella aside, is 'isolated soy protein.' Read the fine print of your tuna-packed-in-water label, -- it's soy liquid. What's ommited from the fine print of your pre-processed chicken sandwich meat -- it's isolated soy protein. The gut wrenching pain in your stomach '-- mislaledd as a digestive 'disorder' is man made. And what about those spray-on-vitamins that go into your cereal." No more cancer-research funding, and heart-disease fundiing unless you fix the root causes -- and that includes lacing water with poisonous chemicals that kill house plants -- and you too -- ultimately. As for all of those polypropylene implants -- that's fossil fuels extracted, refined into not-oil, but plastic and stuck into your belly. As for anyone who missed sciene 101 -- you're being implanted with the precurose to coal -- the remains of dinosaurs. So if you are happy with dinosuar DNA imbedded in your tissue for those folks-at-large who want to study rapid aging (that would be you dying quickly) -- then go for it -- as for the rest of the world -- 'me included' i prefer to be like normal people. i did think of one benefit to keeping women uneducated in Pakistan - each can feed their terrorists man -- whatever the poison-of-the-day is -- under the auspices of 'you didn't want me to read the label because you didn't want me to be educated." i, however, being educated -- know enough not to listen to the scientsist who think they are going to save my life, and extend by heatlh by putting foreign chemicals with bazarre conformational chemicals inside me via; ingestion, injection, implantation, inhaling, or laying it upon my skin. Remember, Einstein did not have a PhD. Steven Jobs did not have Phd. Billl Gates did not have a Phd, the Wright Brothers did not have PhDs -- and the bucky ball is not helping you and me. if the valued added to human being from all these PhDs is basically early death and the FBI says those who perform experiments on animals are more likely to be serial kilers -- then it is a no brainer. Stay away from genetially engineering peoplle. The spin off is the lesson that 'nature got it right the first time.' We knew this with the New Coke. We all want Classic Coke. Now we want classic food.!
