I am a big fan of yours and have watched you for years. My partner was diagnosed with thyroid cancer several years ago and since then has been fine and cancer free. His doctor was amazing. Although he had 89 stictches, you can’t even see his scar. The key was the typ of incision the doctor made, keeping the scar covered for a year from the sun(we are sun worshippers) and applying vitamin E. Hopefully your doctor will do the same for you. Hang in there. I had the same thing in April. Had RAI 131. It’s not hard to get through.
I did gain weight and still real tired. You are in great shape. Just remeber to let your body tell you
how far to push to exercise.

I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer last year. Three of my eight nodules tested positive after having had multiples biopsies in 2008. I did the Thyrogen shots, radiation and isolation thing and every is fine now. I have no side effects and my doctor has done a great job getting me on the correct dosage of Synth. My scar is barely noticeable. Really encouraged to read the other positive reports here, so I decided to add mine. Yes, it’s hard to hear the word cancer…but it’s changed my life for the better. You’ll look at life differently and relate to others walking the same journey….and there are quite a few! Blessings….

Dear Brooke:
The brain is the dynamo or power plant for all nerve energy in the body. The continuation of the brain is called the spinal cord. It goes down inside the spinal canal to get out to all the organs, glands, muscles and structures of the body. Nerves to the thyroid come from the 5,6 and 7 Cervical nerves (vertebrae). If there is interference (pinched ) with these nerves at these levels that means there could be Thyroid problems, upper back and/arm pain. To correct Thyroid problems, take Kelp. This provides Iodine to the Parathroids which in turn provides Thyroxine to the thyroids, per se, which in turn helps all metabolism in the body. Chiropractic is an excellent answer. Taking Kelp is also very good. It may take a little time, but it is worth it. All of this will eliminate a scar (for life) on your beautiful neck!

Dr. Jennifer Ashton, as a Stage IV Medullary Thyroid Cancer Patient, I take exception to any reference of thyroid cancer as being a good cancer. Read the stats!! Incurable means there are not enough of us to make it profitable to find a cure!! Shame on anyone that minimizes any form of Cancer, that takes a major organ out of the body. Life long blood tests and life long medicine!! Chance of nerve damage, parathyroid loss, swallowing issues??? This misconception must end.

My Father (91), Brother (50) and Daughter (34) were all told they had thyroid cancer (over a period of 25 years and with different doctors). They all had their thyroids completely removed only the find out that there was NO CANCER to be found in any of them. Apparently it can be very difficult to detect cancer without doing a slice biopsy of the thyroid. According to a well written leading endocrinologist quite often the problem is a gluten sensitivity. She told my daughter to not have to surgery, remove gluten from her diet and retest in 1 year, and that a one year length of time would not change her prognosis. However, the big C word scared her, and she had HUGE multiple goiters or nodules! Our best to you!

Brooke, Thyroid issues and Cancer have plagued my family for years now. My grandmother died from it, and my sister had hers removed too. My family is still dealing with it. Whatever scar you have from it should be worn with pride! You will come out of this great!
