On Nov. 7, the FDA announced that it was taking the first steps toward re-classifying partially hydrogenated oils. These trans fats are no longer “generally recognized as safe”. The FDA’s preliminary determination means that many common foods are probably going to have to change their ingredients, or risk disappearing from the market.
That’s good news for anyone who’s worried about his or her health. Trans fats have long been linked to heart disease, because they’ve been blamed for clogging blood vessels and arteries.
The American Heart Association wants us to get no more than 2 grams of trans fat a day. Here are 10 foods that exceed the recommendations set by the AHA per serving.
10) MARIE CALLENDAR’S Lattice Apple Pie: 3 grams of trans fats

6) CARL’S JR. Biscuit & Gravy: 7 grams of trans fats
